The Horticulture Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance and upkeep of West Edmonton Mall’s live and artificial plant life and their surroundings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring all plant life is healthy and the appearance is maintained by daily watering and removing of dead material.
- Determining the environmental conditions and care required to maintain selected plants and determining the most appropriate watering and care times.
- Maintaining soil quality by using basic cultivating techniques and removing debris from planting areas.
- Moving, planting, and replanting live and artificial plant life to best suit the aesthetic and functional needs of the mall as well as ensuring live plant life has adequate resources to grow.
- Providing maintenance of plant life by washing planters, dusting leaves, washing trees, and vacuuming artificial plant life.
- Preparing soil for planting, planting bulbs, seeds and cuttings, transplanting plant life, training and pruning plants, and applying pesticides and fertilizers.
- Other responsibilities as required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in a greenhouse or horticulture environment with practice in planting and maintenance of different plant life.
- Experience using planting, irrigation, and fertilizing equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a humid environment.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lb.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This is a full-time position that is required Monday through Friday.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
