About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Millwright Superintendent will lead the execution of mechanical and millwright construction scopes on major industrial projects throughout Western Canada.
This role is responsible for overseeing field operations, supervising crews and subcontractors, coordinating equipment installations, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining project schedules, and promoting a strong culture of safety.
This is a site-based role supporting projects throughout Western Canada and requires candidates who are comfortable working rotational schedules and travelling to project sites.
Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction Leadership
- Lead field execution of millwright and mechanical construction scopes.
- Participate in constructability reviews and project planning.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and manage construction schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support project change management activities.
Mechanical & Millwright Operations
- Supervise installation, alignment, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery.
- Coordinate rotating equipment installation and precision alignment.
- Lead rigging, hoisting, and heavy equipment installation activities.
- Support commissioning and startup of mechanical systems.
- Oversee troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
Safety & Quality
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all site activities.
- Lead toolbox meetings and field safety initiatives.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
- Maintain compliance with client requirements and applicable regulations.
Leadership & Client Support
- Mentor Forepersons, Journeypersons, Apprentices, and field personnel.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performing work environment.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, and Project Controls.
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of industrial construction experience with a strong focus on millwright or mechanical scopes.
- Previous Superintendent or senior supervisory experience.
- Strong experience installing, aligning, maintaining, and commissioning rotating equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of industrial rigging and lifting procedures.
- Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following environments would be considered an asset:

The following qualifications are also considered strong assets:
- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certification.
- Fly-In/Fly-Out project experience.
- Experience supervising union and non-union workforces.
- Experience on large industrial capital projects.

Rotation & Travel
This position supports industrial construction projects throughout Western Canada.
Typical rotations include:
- 14 Days On / 7 Days Off
- 10 Days On / 4 Days Off
Candidates must be willing to travel and work on-site as project requirements dictate.

Work Location: On the road
