Job Overview
Staff Plus is hiring full-time Production Workers - Wood Truss Assemblers in Smithville, Ontario. You will help build wood roof and floor trusses using lumber, production drawings, measuring tapes, saws, nail guns, hammers and other hand and power tools.
This is a physically active manufacturing position suited to candidates with experience in construction, framing, woodworking, assembly, lumber handling, saw operation or other hands-on production work.
Previous truss-building experience is an asset but is not required.
Pay: $17.60–$19.50 per hour, based on relevant experience
Schedule:
Afternoon shifts: Monday to Thursday,3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (4 days a week)
Day shifts: Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (5 days a week)
Location: Smithville, Ontario
What You’ll Do
- Assemble wood roof and floor trusses according to production drawings
- Measure, position and cut lumber for production
- Use saws, nail guns, hammers, measuring tapes and other hand and power tools
- Inspect lumber for damage, defects and quality concerns
- Check finished trusses to ensure they meet production and quality requirements
- Lift, move, stack and organize lumber, materials and completed products
- Complete basic equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns
- Keep your work area clean, organized and safe
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
- Assist with other production duties as required
What You’ll Need
- Comfort using hand and power tools
- Basic measuring and math skills
- Ability to read and follow production instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding work
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 66 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Comfort working in a production environment where temperatures may vary with the weather
- Strong attention to safety, quality and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Experience in construction, framing, manufacturing, woodworking, assembly, saw operation or lumber handling is an asset.
