The Licensed Practical Nurse oversees care and delivery of Assisted Services for Residents. Provides support to all residents and staff under the Assisted Living Program. Reports to the General Manager and oversees the Residential Care Aides.
This is a contract position and does not fall under the unionized environment of Lakeside Gardens.
SCHEDULE: This position would be 4-6 hours biweekly.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Initiating Care Plans and ongoing updates

Supervising new hires
-
Delegation of tasks

Assists in Resident suitability upon entry

Provides residents with gentle, respectful, safe care at all times.

Builds trusting relationships with the residents.

Works together with other members of the team in a respectful, co-operative way.

Assists in Residential exit plans

Weekly blood pressure clinic
-
Follows individual resident care plans. Needs to be aware of any residents with food allergies or sensitivities.

Ensures the overall wellness of Residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be skilled at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills.

Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.

Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.

Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to provide performance through management feedback.

Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with applicants, clients, and staff.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
-
Licensed Practical Nurse certificate in good standing.

BC Care Aide Registration.
-
Current First Aid & CPR.
-
Food Safe Certificate.
-
Two years nursing experience
-
Geriatric experience is considered an asset.

Knowledge of Assisted Living Regulations and Guidelines is considered an asset.
PERSONAL:

Must be able to speak English fluently and communicate effectively both verbally and in the composition of written materials.

Must pass a Criminal Record Check.

Proven ability to offer outstanding public relations, potential clients, staff and all visitors.

A people person with a heart for seniors and a positive, outgoing disposition. Ability to work independently with commitment to achieve deadlines.
