Medical Office Assistant
Duties:
- answering phones and scheduling appointments
- returning phone calls, communicating physican messages and patient results
- greeting and checking in patients
- posting HRM and Lab results to the EMR
- uploading mail and faxes to the EMR
- faxing and using OCEAN for outgoing referals
- monitering vaccine fridge and ordering vaccines
- ordering and stocking supplies
Requirements:
- Experience using Telus PS Suites EMR essential (Please do not apply if you are not trained in PS Suites EMR, as your application will not be considered).
- Previous experience in a medical office setting for at least 1 year essential
- Previous experience in family medicine, pediatrics, or primary care essential
- Experience with OCEAN referral system preferred
- Must work well under pressure
- Must have a high degree of attention to detail
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Must have superior communication skills and be professional, patient, and kind at all times
- must be willing to respond to all phone calls same day
The office is located within walking distance of an OC Transpo bus station and is beside the LRT Phase 2 Algonquin train station. Will pay for on-site parking. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 .5 hours per day, and hours are negotiable. This is a full-time in person position only. Remote work is not an option. Covid and flu vaccination is required to protect our vulnerable patients. Masking is required while patients are in the office during times of high local respiratory virus activity or if you have respiratory symptoms. 2 weeks paid vacation in the summer and 1 week paid vacation during the Christmas holidays. As there is no other administrative staff, it is essential that you are committed to being in the office 5 days a week. Please do not apply if circumstances are such that you will not be able to dependably be in the office 5 days a week at your fixed work hours.
