The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 7 temporary full-time (from approx. April 1, 2019 to approx. December 24, 2019) Utilities Maintenance Workers to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering and Construction Services Department.

Summary of Duties
Reporting to the Construction Manager, in this unionized position, the successful applicant will be responsible for exercising independent judgment and initiative ensuring safe work practices; while assisting in water works construction, maintenance and repair tasks; utilizing a variety of equipment and repair processes such as an M-Scope to locate utilities; and air compressors; as well as operating a laser level and video inspection camera as required; guiding equipment operators; and driving a work truck.

Required Qualifications
Your education will include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by training courses and experience in utility construction and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful applicants will have sound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the various functional areas of utilities construction and utilities maintenance work; as well as have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.

BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. Compensation & Benefits Overview
The CUPE rate of pay is $30.23 per hour (2019 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
