The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works on an adolescent mental health unit supporting youth and families experiencing an acute mental health crisis. Using Collaborative Problem Solving, Attachment needs, and Trauma Informed Care, the LPN supports youth in understanding mental health, develop strategies to manage their mental illness, and support families in this time of crisis. The LPN works as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team and further engages in group facilitation and individual support.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
NVCI (non-violent crisis intervention). Two years of experience working in mental healthcare. Works to full scope of practice. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous child and adolescent experience preferred. Certification in the Core Brain Story (available through the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative) is preferred. Experience with CPS model of care would be an asset.
