the role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Trims Designer to join our Accessories Design team, working across Bags & SLGs, Headwear, Equipment, and Socks. You’ll lead the design and development of trims and hardware, supporting both future concepts and in-season product, with a strong focus on function, quality, and brand expression.
Partnering closely with Raw Materials Development and cross-functional teams, you’ll create thoughtful solutions across soft and hard components, designing hardware such as closures, adjusters, and branded elements, while ensuring every detail integrates seamlessly into a cohesive design language.
Accessories span both textile and hardware-led products, from bags to performance essentials, built with technical materials and purposeful design.
You’ll contribute to fittings and design reviews, driving development forward while bringing curiosity, a sharp eye, and a hands-on approach to materials, trims, and innovation.
what you will do
- Lead the design of trims and hardware across Accessories categories, including Bags & SLGs, Headwear, Equipment, and Socks.
- Drive trim development from concept to commercialization across both future seasons and in-season product, delivering with excellence and on time against key milestones.
- Create thoughtful trim strategies that align with seasonal direction, brand vision, and performance needs.
- Bring ideas to life through 3D thinking and prototyping, exploring form, function, materials, and construction to evolve innovative solutions.
- Build clear and compelling trim boards, presentations, and storytelling that communicate design intent with confidence and clarity.
- Partner closely with Raw Materials Development and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution from concept through production.
- Stay curious, researching trends, materials, and hardware innovation to inform forward-thinking design solutions.
- Balance innovation with quality, cost, manufacturability, and sustainability considerations.
- Manage multiple projects and seasons with strong attention to detail, organization, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Contribute to a collaborative, positive team environment while continuing to grow your creative voice, technical skills, and design confidence.
Qualifications
- You bring 5+ years of experience in accessories, hardware, product design, industrial design, or engineering within apparel, footwear, or related industries.
- You have a strong foundation in designing and developing trims and hardware in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with an understanding of both aesthetic and engineering considerations.
- You’re able to think in both design and technical terms—balancing form, function, manufacturability, and performance in every solution.
- You collaborate with ease, building strong partnerships across design, development, merchandising, sourcing, engineering counterparts, and external vendors.
- You’re highly organized, with a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to follow-through from concept through commercialization.
- You’re adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities, navigating changing timelines and business needs with confidence.
- You communicate ideas clearly and thoughtfully, both visually and verbally, and can articulate design intent, technical rationale, and strategy with impact.
- You’re comfortable supporting the product creation process through mock-ups, prototyping, tech sketch updates, and detailed documentation during fittings and reviews.
- You bring curiosity and an innovative mindset, exploring how materials, hardware systems, and construction methods can elevate performance and user experience.
- You maintain organization across files, materials, research, and samples, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the development process.
- You’re highly skilled in hand sketching, CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D tools, using them to visualize, prototype, and validate concepts.
- You have experience working with global vendors and manufacturing partners; agency experience is considered an asset.
