Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and service
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
- Develop and update menus in collaboration with management
- Create recipes and establish preparation and plating standards
- Manage food ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory
- Monitor food costs, waste, portion sizes, and kitchen profitability
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
- Manage kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance when required
- Work closely with front-of-house and management teams to ensure excellent guest experiences
- Handle kitchen issues calmly and efficiently during busy service periods
- Foster a respectful, professional, and positive kitchen culture
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of professional kitchen operations
- Excellent culinary and food preparation skills
- Proven ability to lead and develop a kitchen team
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Knowledge of food costing, inventory control, and purchasing
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Culinary education or equivalent professional experience is an asset
- Food Handler/food safety certification is an asset or required

Duties and performance: A Kitchen Manager, or Back-Of-House Manager, is responsible for the staff who work behind the scenes at a food and beverage establishment. They work closely with kitchen staff, barbacks, and bussers to ensure that the back-of-house runs smoothly. They are an important member of a restaurant team to ensure operations run as expected.
