Responsibilities
The Chronic Pain and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Psychologist is responsible for developing and ensuring the systematic provision of a high quality and specialist clinical psychology service to the pain management service and the Cape Breton Heart and Lung Wellness Center. The Psychologist will function as a primary therapist within a multidisciplinary team and provide shared services to both programs. Engaging in research and program development, the Psychologist will be involved in the planning and evaluation of behavioural interventions within the services and assist with the transition of clients back to a healthy lifestyle.

Qualifications
Recognized Masters degree in Clinical Psychology required, PhD in Clinical Psychology preferred
Registered in good standing or eligible for registration under the Psychologists Act of Nova Scotia (NS Board of Examiners in Psychology)
Three (3) years Chronic Pain Clinic experience preferred
Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model is preferred
Previous experience implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, including treatment for chronic pain related problems such as depression, anxiety and trauma as well as group pain management treatment to clients.
Knowledge of preventive medicine and/or health promotion
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision on a consultative basis within the healthcare team
Demonstrated leadership in interpersonal communication, program development, teaching skills and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability in educational program development, adult education and professional development
Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint
Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain good working relations
Commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement, Best Practices and Team Work
Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position
Ability to adapt to stressful situations and flexible workloads
Good attendance and work record
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
1 x Permanent, full time position; 75 hours biweekly
OR
2 x Permanent, part time (0.5) positions; 37.5 hours biweekly

Salary Information
Masters Scale: $34.1281 - $44.8647 hourly
PhD Scale: $45.9071 - $57.3840 hourly
