Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations across our agricultural commodities and food processing facility in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end plant performance including processing operations, production efficiency, food safety compliance, inventory coordination, maintenance collaboration, and team leadership.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, sound decision-making, and a proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and plant optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily plant operations including processing, production, packaging, warehousing coordination, and shipping/receiving activities
- Lead and supervise plant employees and contractors while promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
- Drive operational efficiency, production output, and cost control initiatives across the facility
- Monitor plant KPIs including productivity, downtime, quality, safety, and operational performance
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance machinery performance, plant efficiency, and overall productivity
- Assist in the preparation and management of departmental budgets while ensuring operational costs are effectively controlled
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and minimal downtime
- Develop reporting systems to analyze plant performance and support operational decision-making
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational optimization strategies
- Coordinate employee training, mentoring, and skill development programs in alignment with company policies
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety standards and all applicable regulations
- Contribute to the implementation, verification, validation, and maintenance of the SQF system alongside the SQF Leader and external consultants
- Participate in internal and external audits conducted by regulatory agencies, customers, and third-party auditors
- Support compliance with food safety programs including GMP, HACCP, and SQF requirements
- Prepare and implement solutions for operational challenges and production issues as they arise
- Partner with senior management to support operational planning, business objectives, and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- 7+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, food processing, agricultural commodities, or industrial operations
- Previous experience in a Plant Manager, Production Manager, or Operations leadership role
- Strong understanding of food processing operations, production planning, and plant optimization
- Experience managing budgets, operational costs, and plant performance metrics
- Knowledge of food safety and quality systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP
- Experience participating in regulatory inspections and third-party audits
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and operational compliance requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or processing environment
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience is considered an asset
- ERP system experience is considered an asset
