About Us
Whistler Vacation Homes Ltd. (WVH) is one of Whistler’s most innovative vacation rental management companies. We manage over 75 premium vacation rental properties and are currently growing. We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated Repairs & Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.
The Role
This role fits in the backbone of our property care team. You will be responsible for resolving a wide assortment of home care issues, from proactive home inspections to troubleshooting immediate problems reported by guests, cleaners, or property owners.
This is not your typical 9-to-5. While the actual number of hours worked per week is, on average, lower than a standard full-time job, it requires high availability. You will work a 5-day week including weekends (two weekdays off) and must be comfortable being on-call, ready to troubleshoot issues at a moment's notice, including some evenings for rare issues arising in the evening. In exchange, you will enjoy a fair degree of autonomy and flexibility in your daily schedule. We do not require you to report to an office on a daily basis, but you must be available to support when called upon and self-motivated to be proactive with maintenance inspections and property needs/care. Looking for a positive and driven candidate to join our small and cohesive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Property Care: Conduct regular maintenance inspections to identify and stay ahead of potential issues before they impact a guest's stay.
- Hands-On Repairs & Maintenance: Execute a variety of general repairs including drywall patching, painting, minor electrical and plumbing, appliance repair, furniture assembly, TV mounting and troubleshooting network/cable issues.
- Guest & Owner Relations: Communicate professionally and directly with in-house guests or property owners while on-site. Conduct pre-arrival property inspections and service guest requests.
- Team Coordination: Act as the vital link between WVH internal staff (Operations and Owner Relations), outside contractors, and maintenance teams.
- Project Assistance: Help with receiving shipments or picking them up, installing artwork, hanging decor, and placing fixtures.
- Reporting: Complete brief digital reports and organize tasks via your smartphone or computer while on the go.
- Misc. Administrative tasks during downtime: Such as, but not limited to, expense entries and maintenance invoicing.
What We’re Looking For
- Local & Mobile: You must currently live in Whistler and have a valid driver's license with your own reliable vehicle (compensation provided for mileage)
- Handy & Versatile: Proven experience in repairs, maintenance, and multiple trades. We provide training where needed, but a desire for self-learning and skill improvement is expected.
- Problem Solver: You think on your feet, love troubleshooting, and see issues through from start to finish.
- Customer-Focused: Prior customer service experience with a positive, professional approach to challenges.
- Organized Self-Starter: You have strong time-management skills, high attention to detail, and the diligence to manage miscellaneous administrative and operational duties.
