Magna Mining Inc. is a Sudbury-focused, base metal exploration and development company.
Magna Mining’s key objective is to become the next nickel and copper producing company in Canada by executing a growth strategy that is focused exclusively on the historic nickel producing district of Sudbury, ON.
We intend to achieve this objective via the creation of a Sudbury focused, hub and spoke production model, with our existing Shakespeare project as the hub. The path to the creation of a significant new battery metals producing Canadian company is to execute a long term, multi-faceted growth strategy.
The Cost Accountant is responsible for the planning, analyzing, and reporting on cost-related activities to support the financial health and operational efficiency at Magna Mining’s Sudbury operations.

Monitor and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production costs.

Track costs related to drilling, blasting, hauling, crushing, and processing.

Provide detailed cost variance analysis and root cause investigations.

Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts for mining operations.

Support operational teams with cost data to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Ensure alignment between operational activities and financial goals.

Work closely with the operation for the organization of capital spend, ensuring correct accounting treatment.

Track and capitalize equipment and machinery costs in line with accounting policies.

Work closely with maintenance team to ensure capital equipment / machinery and other maintenance assets are appropriately linked / accounted for and costed.

Allocate costs appropriately between different mining activities (e.g., overburden removal, ore production).

Ensure labor, materials, and overheads are correctly allocated to cost centers.

Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and local regulations.

Participate in audits and implement internal control improvements.

Work with ERP and cost accounting systems.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance cost reporting accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field

Professional accounting certification is considered an asset.
Work Experience: Nature & Length

4 or more year of accounting experience in mining or other heavy industry.
