The Straightener reports directly to the shift supervisor and is responsible for loading and unloading blades through the straightening machine. The operator is responsible for removing any bends, curves, or warping in a blade caused from the heat treating process. This position requires the ability to use 4 different types of straightening machines to ensure all blades are straight. Finally, this role requires conducting quality checks throughout the entire work process.
This position will work Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 on the Day shift.
Job Duties
- Read, follow, and understand drawings of products.
- Verify parts match work order by measuring, comparing to drawing.
- Adjust thickness limit on press, if necessary.
- Load and unload blades utilizing a jib crane.
- Operate the press to straighten blades, utilizing a straight edge to check alignment and make adjustments as required.
- Repeat till the blade is straightened.
- Complete quality checks as per the quality procedures.
- Always ensure that you are performing your job safely.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Highschool diploma or GED.
- 1 or more years in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with imperial measurements.
- Ability to read and understand product drawings.
- Capable of conducting quality checks and inspections.
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Clear and solid understanding of policies, practices, and procedures.
- Manual dexterity required.
Working Conditions
- Loud work environment.
- This role involves constant exposure to heat, as blades remain hot for this process.
- Ability to maneuver 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and crouch for long periods of time.
- Environmental temperature fluctuation.
- Overtime may be required.
