Job Overview
We're looking for a Production Planner who thrives on solving complex problems, balancing competing priorities, and keeping production running smoothly. In this role, you'll be at the center of our operations — working closely with production, purchasing and shipping to ensure customer demand is met while maximizing efficiency. This role is responsible for ensuring production plans are accurate, achievable, and aligned with customer demand. You'll play a key role in balancing capacity, inventory, materials, and customer priorities while driving continuous improvement across our planning processes. If you enjoy turning data into decisions and making a measurable impact every day, we'd love to meet you.
Why You'll Enjoy Working Here:
- Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Have real influence over production priorities and operational performance.
- Collaborate with experienced teams across purchasing, production, category managers, and shipping.
- Help drive continuous improvement rather than simply maintaining schedules.
- Be trusted to solve problems and make decisions that directly impact customer satisfaction.
- Sharing best practices amongst the team to elevate overall team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the production schedule by developing, maintaining, and continuously optimizing plans that balance customer demand, inventory targets, manufacturing capacity, and operational efficiency.
- Anticipate material shortages and capacity constraints before they impact production and develop recovery plans with purchasing and operations.
- Provide accurate and reliable delivery commitments to customers and internal stakeholders based on production capacity and material availability.
- Monitor production labour and equipment capacities and adjust plans as required.
- Cultivate and manage effective working relationships within the team and cross-functionally.
- Analyze delays and interruptions; adjust production schedule to meet deadlines.
- Take ownership of production constraints by proactively identifying, escalating, and driving the resolution of issues that could impact on-time delivery, ensuring timely action with a strong sense of urgency.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, scheduling accuracy, and production efficiency through data analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
You will thrive in this role if you are:
- Naturally curious and enjoy solving problems.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proactive rather than reactive.
- Driven to continuously improve processes.
- Comfortable making decisions in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly.
- Able to influence others without direct authority.
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communicator, able to collaborate across teams within the organization.
- Advanced Excel skills including formulas, lookups, filtering, pivot tables, and data analysis. Experience building tools and reports is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary degree preferred.
- Professional certifications, such as APICS, considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada - this position does not offer work sponsorships
