We’re seeking a Public Relations and Social Media Strategist who stays deeply connected with the trends and happenings that influence the news of the day and wants to help Purolator become a newsmaker for the right reasons. Building on our 2019 success in showcasing our delivering the future growth and innovation story, we are now adapting our media relations and social media strategy as we continue to support Canadians throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
If you thrive in a dynamic environment and have a passion for business news, corporate storytelling, social media strategy and community management, thought leadership and managing sensitive issues, now’s your chance to play a lead role on a highly motivated team. You will:
Work directly with the communications management team to enhance Purolator’s public relations and social media functions, including a social media channel strategy.
Have the opportunity to hit the ground running by developing and activating traditional and social media strategies showcasing the company’s record growth, on-trend innovation and technology advancements, and job creation, while profiling the work Purolator is doing to make Canada stronger by quickly responding to COVID-19.
Keep the company connected with its influencer community including business leaders and associations, public policy decision makers, media pundits, consumer media spokespeople and other stakeholders.
Maintain credible relationships with journalists across the country.
Create integrated social media, media relations and public affairs campaigns that promote Purolator’s growth and corporate initiatives and the positive outcomes they achieve for businesses in Canada and Canadian consumers.
Oversee media monitoring and keep Purolator’s management team up to date with insights and analysis.
Work with social media teams in Communications and Marketing to identify compelling news stories and opportunities and lead our social media content calendar development and execution.
Use your exceptional writing skills to craft news releases, speeches, key messages and media pitches.
Keep current with social media and media relations best practices, trends and technology.
Support issues management and crisis communications strategies and responses.
As the successful candidate, you must have:

A passion for news, traditional and social media and political discourse.
The ability to have fun under pressure, always keeping a positive attitude.
Impeccable writing and proofreading skills, particularly for news and media communications.
Exceptional experience identifying and activating traditional and social media strategies to amplify an organization’s growth strategy.
Proven experience acting as a spokesperson and preparing for issues of corporate concern.
Demonstrated knowledge in helping a company promote its products and services through business and consumer media.
A network of trusted relationships with journalists and media influencers
Exceptional decorum, judgement and project management skills.
Superior organization and prioritization skills coupled with a sense of urgency and motivation.
An action-oriented style balanced with good judgement.
