Job Description Rigger/Pilot Operator - Jack & Roll Method
Northland Logistics Corp. is seeking to fill a position for a company jack & roll rigger/pilot operator that is interested in a physical, fulling and challenging career in heavy haul. The successful candidate would be working out of our Airdrie, Ab facility with our jack & roll team. Operations may vary in the following sectors: oil & gas, mining, construction, forestry and manufacturing industries throughout the US, AB, BC, and SK. The successful candidate must meet the following essential qualifications and requirements:
RESPONSIBILITIES & QULIFICATIONS JACK & ROLL:
· Perform pre and post trip inspections on Jack & Slide Equipment
· Assist with loading and unloading trucks and trailers by implementing jack & roll best practices and procedures.
· Help offload, setup and place Jack and Roll rigging equipment; such as positioning 10 x 10 wood blocking, 2 x 2 pads and shim as directed by the supervisor.
· Operate skid steers and/or telehandlers
· Help load and secure cargo, equipment, tools and material
· Provide physically demanding labor supports to carry and place equipment as part of the team, communicate, and follow direction from the supervisor.
· Provide support to Winch trucks, and Bed truck operators
· Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps
· Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials
· Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability. align, level, and anchor machinery
· Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools
· Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools
· Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts. Wash equipment as requested by Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS PILOTING:
· At every phase of the movement of an over dimensional load, you will have specific tasks to perform. It is the responsibility of the escort vehicle driver to make the traveling public aware of the presence of an over dimensional load and to direct and control traffic when necessary.
· Escort drivers also help the load driver move the load as safely as possible with the least possible delay and inconvenience to the traveling public.
· Must be use safe driving skills, be alert, communicate and use good judgment.
· As the driver of an pilot vehicle, you are part of a team doing the important job of safely moving over dimensional loads on provincial and state highways.
· Operating company truck and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
· Must have experience as a pilot truck driver
· Must have experience with escorting over dimensional loads and perform pilot/flagging operations.
· Good communication skills
REQUIREMENTS:
· Pilot truck experience: 1 year (required)
· Must have a clean Class 5 driver's license (No GDL), Class 1 or 3 considered a strong asset.
· Must have First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, & OSSA; the right candidate may be provided with these courses.
· Must have CPTT Certification
· Must have valid passport.
· Must be prepared for working outside in all weather conditions.
· Class 1 license is an asset.
