Group Leader

Position Timeline - September 2026 - June 2027
Hours - (20 hours/week) Must be available Monday to Friday between the hours of 2:00pm - 6:30pm
Rate - $20/ hour
Position Summary
The Group Leader plays an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality programs and creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for children and youth ages 4–12. Working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and program team, the Group Leader assists with the planning, organization, and delivery of engaging programs that promote the personal, social, emotional, and physical development of participants.
Group Leaders are expected to serve as positive role models and demonstrate BGC values through honesty, respect, fairness, cooperation, inclusion, and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, organization, and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate programs and activities for children and youth.
- Plan, lead, and actively participate in programming aligned with HIGH FIVE® principles, BGC Canada’s Model for Success, and key programming areas, including Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness, Physical Activity, and Education.
- Provide active and effective supervision of children and youth while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive program environment.
- Assume site leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Program Coordinator and support the effective day-to-day operation of the program.
- Manage participant sign-in and sign-out procedures and ensure established safe arrival and dismissal protocols are consistently followed.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with children, youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Complete required program documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including incident and accident reports and other program records.
- Ensure program spaces, materials, and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Follow and adhere to all BGC South East policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and program standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities as required. Work collaboratively with team members to support consistent, high-quality program delivery.
