Position Overview
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the ongoing maintenance, safety, and upkeep of a senior living environment.
The successful candidate will assist with general repairs, preventative maintenance, facility operations, and ensuring the building remains safe, comfortable, and functional for residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Complete general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the residence
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Assist with building, equipment, and facility upkeep
- Perform basic repairs related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and general building operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and organizational policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed maintenance activities
- Work collaboratively with the residence team and external service providers when required
- Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of maintenance experience required
- Previous maintenance experience in a retirement residence, healthcare, residential, commercial, or institutional setting preferred
- Knowledge of general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance practices
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and facility operations considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
