Hydrovac Swamper / Operator-in-Training

Valhalla Hydrovac Ltd. is looking for a reliable, motivated individual to join our team as a Hydrovac Swamper / Operator-in-Training.
We are a growing company with multiple divisions and a variety of projects throughout B.C. We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job — we want someone interested in learning, gaining certifications and building a long-term career with opportunities to advance within the company.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting Hydrovac Operators with daily operations
- Handling hoses, digging tools and job-site equipment
- Assisting with truck setup, cleanup and maintenance
- Working safely around underground utilities and active construction sites
- Supporting crews with various field activities as required
- Following company and client safety procedures
- Travelling for out-of-town projects when required
Training & Advancement
Experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person.
As part of this position, you will have opportunities to complete additional training, courses, certifications and applicable industry examinations.
Depending on the position and project requirements, training may include:
- Hazardous Waste Transport knowledge training/examinations
- TDG
- WHMIS
- Ground Disturbance
- First Aid
- Confined Space training
- Equipment and hydrovac training
- Client and site-specific certifications
- Other industry qualifications as required
We are looking for someone willing to learn, take courses, write applicable exams and continually develop their skills.
For the right person, there is potential to progress into a Hydrovac Operator position and other opportunities within our various divisions.

- Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn
- Strong safety mindset
- Comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work
- Able to work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willing to travel when required
- Able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Construction, utility, excavation or hydrovac experience is an asset but not required
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence is an asset but not required
