A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are looking for a Senior Buyer/Expeditor for our New Mill Project in Whitby. Reporting to the Project Manager and indirectly to the Sr. Corporate Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer/Expeditor New Mill Project is responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials and services related to the New Mill build. We are looking for someone having a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. This is a contract position until April 2022.
Purchase goods and services for the New PM 4 project at the Whitby Mill
Expedite functions to ensure materials are shipped at the agreed delivery time for smooth project execution.
Take an assertive stance with suppliers to negotiate and re-negotiate best pricing and terms
Being proactive to ensure the company obtains value and excellent service from suppliers
Update the Project Manager and the project team abreast of status of orders and deliveries
Ensure ownership and responsibility is taken for all purchasing requirements
Develop strong rapport with suppliers
Proactively investigate/follow up on any issues and/or shipping delays and share open issues with the team
Ensure innovative processes are in place to facilitate the consistent delivery of orders meeting our requirements
Ensure the execution and follow up of corrective action under his/her responsibilities
Ensure an effective communication for identifying opportunities for improvement
Support company to best practices in purchasing
Support for all Purchasing Actions (Reporting and validation)
Generate purchase orders through our company PO system
A qualified buyer with 10+ years’ Purchasing experience especially with key projects
Proven success in sourcing, purchasing, expediting and partnering with suppliers
Must be determined, persistent, team payer, knowledgeable and caring about the quality of his or her work
Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail and problem solving skills
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
Superior organizational skills and planning and time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
Ability to present themselves in a professional manner
Enrollment or completion of PMAC OR SCMP professional development program
Post-secondary education , ideally in Purchasing, Supply Chain or business
