At SMS Equipment, our Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) Support Specialist plays a key role in providing technical application-level support to both internal and external stakeholders as well as operational best practices that facilitate the optimal performance of the system. As a member of the Smart Mining team, the incumbent will support continuous improvement through analysis, providing recommendations on improvements, and by actively participating in system upgrades. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, knowledge, technical abilities, and positivity to our team located in Acheson, AB.
This position offers a hybrid work environment with the ability to work from home up to 50% of the time. Willingness to travel to the various customer mine sites on an occasional basis is required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develops and maintains in depth technical knowledge on the FrontRunner Autonomous systems as it relates to the server application and on-board Autonomous Haul Truck (AHT) control systems.
This position will work closely with factory support and development teams to identify and resolve any technical problems that might arise during deployment of software.
Will also work closely with the OEM/DB onsite teams and customers to assess current mining and operational practices and recommend ways of improving overall system productivity.
Will also assists in the investigation and resolution of system problems and complete technical reports based on feedback from AHS technical specialists and customers.
Be a technical resource for the AHS team by providing support to branch and customers with the FrontRunner application.
Will be a point of contact for field calls from internal technical resources well as customers who are experiencing technical issues with the software and will assist with troubleshooting.
Oversee the gathering and documenting of failure information pertaining to, operational and/or application related issues, design deficiencies.
Support AHS product improvement by analyzing program needs and work with OEM to provide solutions to users in a problem-solving approach.
This role will monitor equipment updates and assist is explanation of Flash News releases as well as internal technical training as needed.
The successful candidate will have experience in mining operations with a high aptitude for technical computer systems and data analytics. Post secondary education in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining engineering is preferred. SMS will support pursuing or continuing a professional designation such as C.Tech, C.E.T, EIT or P.Eng.
Additional qualifications include:
Sound understanding of principles associated within the mining environment and fleet haulage systems.
Strong passion and aptitude for systems data analysis and using data to drive system performance through KPIs and reporting tools.
Must have an aptitude for logical thinking and problem solving.
Excellent communication skills to operate in a dynamic environment with focus on client and customer relations is essential.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with advanced Excel skills and have a wide-ranging working knowledge of computer systems
