We are looking for an experienced Non-Ferrous Yard Operator to join our team.
This is a hands-on position combining heavy equipment operation with regular non-ferrous shop and yard duties.
Previous experience operating a large elevating-cab material handler such as a Sennebogen 825, Liebherr LH30/LH40, or comparable machine is mandatory.
The successful candidate must also be willing to work alongside the rest of the Non-Ferrous team when equipment operation is not required.
Responsibilities
- Operate a large material handler with grapple to sort, organize, stockpile, load, and move non-ferrous materials
- Use an excavator with shear to downsize oversized aluminum, stainless steel, and other materials
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, bins, and containers
- Operate skid steer, loader, forklift, and other yard equipment as required
- Hand sort and process non-ferrous scrap materials
- Receive material from customers and assist with weighing, grading, and unloading
- Operate the non-ferrous baler and other processing equipment
- Prepare materials for outbound shipments
- Perform daily equipment inspections
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Qualifications
- Previous material handler operating experience is required
- Experience with Sennebogen, Liebherr, or similar large material handlers
- Strong heavy equipment operating skills
- Comfortable working both inside equipment and performing hands-on shop duties
- Strong safety awareness and good judgment
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize work with minimal supervision
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is considered an asset:
- Scrap metal recycling
- Metal processing
- Landfills or waste transfer facilities
- Lumber mills or forestry operations
- Heavy industrial yards
- Excavator with shear
- Non-ferrous scrap identification and grading
Knowledge of non-ferrous materials is preferred but not required. Material identification and grading can be trained for the right candidate.
Applicants without previous large material handler operating experience will not be considered.
Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
