Job Summary
The RN is responsible for the quality; adequacy of services provided and may, where required, supervise staff. The RN is responsible for ensuring that care is delivered appropriately and the standards of quality are adhered to.
The RN is responsible for working with other medical disciplines (i.e., PT, OT, SLP) to ensure coordinated services and that all of the client’s needs are identified through the assessment process and addressed through the implementation of the Plan of Care and re-evaluation and supervisory process.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care
- Provides accurate, detailed, and timely documentation
- Conducts ongoing assessments
- Prepares, administers and appropriately documents actions taken specific to medications
- Performs all skills, treatments, and procedures competently in accordance with the provincial scope of practice
- Follows principles of infection control and Universal Precautions
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse education program
- Canadian registered nurse in good standing with current licensing body
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification may be required depending on client
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to assess and anticipate potential problems and develop and implement solutions
- Significant experience with total patient care planning
- Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients
- Ability to perform independently and as a member of a healthcare team
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
- Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment
- Ability to work within established standards or policies, protocols and procedures.
