About the Role: We are seeking a positive, highly skilled and detail-oriented production control assistant. This position is responsible for interacting directly both with clients and plant staff to design, draw and support the fabrication of the final product. Reporting to the Production Control Manager, they will work to provide all the information and technical drawings to complete a job.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for development and execution of technical drawings:
- Operate computer assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations.
- Take flat patterns from 3D CAD files such as Inventor and SolidWorks.
- Develop and prepare design sketches.
- Read construction blueprints and determine how a product will be fabricated.
- Use 3-D modeling software to develop flat patterns of panels.
- Issue work orders for production by reading the fabrication drawings, selecting the right material and preparing the cutting pattern.
Accountable for quality check of prepared drawings:
- Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from team or customers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
- Produce production ready drawings - ensuring the drawing programs are compatible with the machinery along with all correct hardware and materials being selected.
- Ensure conformance to customer specifications, company standards and regulation requirements.
Accountable for project management:
- Provide an explanation on the drawings to relevant teams, including adjustment, variations and amendments as necessary.
- Ensure consistent conformance with project specifications, quality requirements, timeliness, and less redundancies/redrawing with the production team.
- Assist production team with day-to-day project functions, as needed, including researching product specifications, contacting vendors, and other support functions as needed.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant job
- Knowledge in CNC programming
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor and SolidWorks sheet metal modules
- Proficient in MS Excel & MS Word
- Mechanical engineering knowledge to understand the manufacturing process
- Ability to interpret complicated site/construction drawings
- Exposure to sheet metal fabrication is an asset
Education:
- Post-Secondary diploma in relevant field
- Engineering degree preferred
Working Conditions: standing, sitting, reaching and bending as required in a busy office/manufacturing environment. Lifting up to 50lbs.
