Position Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Swing Driver. This position will involve operating a side loader truck to collect and dispose of residential waste in a safe and efficient manner. The successful candidate may have the potential to operate roll off trucks, front end loaders, and may have the opportunity to move into a Long Haul driver role.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a residential side loader truck to collect and dispose of waste in a safe and efficient manner.
- Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, and report any issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Follow all company and industry safety regulations and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including the number of pick-ups, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Load and unload waste and recycling containers onto the truck, and ensure that all waste is properly secured and transported to the appropriate disposal location.
- Operate other equipment as needed, such as roll off trucks, front end loaders, and potentially long haul driving with an AZ license.
- Other related duties as required or requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 3 driver's license.
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a side loader truck.
- Experience operating roll off trucks and front end loaders is considered an asset.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment D & A testing
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work early morning and/or late evening shifts, as well as weekends as needed.
