In compliance the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations the Cleaner performs heavy housekeeping duties, whose principal responsibilities include: performing cleaning activities to ensure a clean and germ free environment; performing regular scheduled floor, carpet care and maintenance; ensuring cleanliness of furniture, fixtures and equipment; collecting and preparing garbage/waste for pickup and disposal; replenishing stock and supplies; securing and maintaining tools/equipment used to perform the day to day work; performing cross-functional duties as assigned or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as requested.


Six (6) months related experience
Ability to read, speak and write English
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Ability to use tools and equipment common to the work being performed including: dry/wet mop, automatic cleaning machine, high duster, dust pan and brush, masselin tool, floor polisher/scrubber, compactor, vacuum cleaner, space sweeper, squeegee, moving dolly, etc.
Ability to represent the Department with a positive and professional attitude
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting, pushing and pulling equipment/furniture in excess of 40 kg
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Good employment record
