Job Overview:
The Talent Acquisition Manager based in Edmonton and reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, is responsible for the development and execution of the recruitment strategy to successfully attract, onboard and place field, hourly, salaried and corporate positions. In this role, the Talent Acquisition Manager will oversee performance, set targets and develop the recruitment team with emphasis on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a proactive and innovative recruitment strategy for field, hourly, salaried and corporate based positions that fully support the organizations needs and attract top talent.
- Utilize data driven insights to improve the recruitment process and find efficiencies.
- Coach, mentor, manage, and motivate the recruitment team.
- Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to promote open positions and attract skilled candidates via job postings, hiring events, and social media.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback to ensure targets are achieved.
- Regularly evaluate recruiter performance and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and manage end to end recruitment process, including job postings, sourcing, candidate communication, offers and onboarding.
- Collaborate with operations and hiring managers to understand their hiring requirements and provide guidance on the selection process.
- Analyze, track and report on departmental KPI’s which include turnover, on time fill rate, deficiency rate, retention, A&D results etc.
- Utilize applicant tracking systems and other recruitment tools to streamline the hiring process and maintain accurate candidate records.
- Ensure that the corporate values, Pillars of Excellence program, and human resource philosophy is understood, embraced, and implemented throughout the department, and personally demonstrates the same in all interactions, relationships internally and externally. Empower the team to do the same.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field. RPR designation is preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in recruitment and managing recruitment teams in construction, heavy civil or related field.
- Strong understanding of recruitment processes and best practices.
- High volume recruitment experience would be an asset.
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and motivate a team.
- Direct experience recruiting hourly workers such as: heavy equipment operators, labourers, field supervisors, HSE advisors, field administrators, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Customer focused with strong relationship building abilities.
- Solutions based, continuous improvement approach with a can-do attitude and the ability to troubleshoot on a whim.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent attention to details, follow up and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
