Position Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst is the main point of contact for finance and operational partners. This position provides accounting and analytical support to the Environmental Solutions Onsite and Facilities groups, as well as ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of the financial information as it relates to the Environmental Solutions Group.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assisting with the accounting period end close process for both balance sheet and P&L accounts for multiple locations and lines of business
  • Supporting weekly forecasting activities and executing the annual budget process
  • Preparing and posting journal entries into the company’s ERP system
  • Partnering with operations in multiple locations regarding the reporting and analysis of financial results
  • Ensures the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of financial information.
  • Ensures appropriate level of analysis is completed on assigned accounts and branches.
  • Ensures revenue and expense recognition is in compliance with IFRS and Terrapure’s Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists in audit tasks and internal financial control reviews
  • Understands internal and external customer requirements and delivers according to expectations.
  • Partners with operational staff to provide support and embed finance competencies within the operations function.
  • Communicates proactively and effectively with internal/external customers.
  • Presents recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Performs financial support in aspects of inventory management and project management, through the ERP platform.
  • Providing ad hoc financial and business analysis to operations and functional groups as needed
  • Providing ERP integration support and training to finance and operations partners
Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Relevant post-secondary education in Business, Finance or Accounting. Preference will be given to candidates who are enrolled in the CPA or equivalent program
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial or accounting role
  • Experience managing month end processes for multiple locations/lines of business
  • Proficient in financial statement analysis and budget development
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting including job costing, standard costing, utilization metrics, and cost allocation processes
  • Experience with EPICOR and SAP would be an asset.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet various/conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in aspects of inventory management and/or project management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; above average proficiency with Excel is a must.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and effectively problem solve.
  • Ability to work positively with others in a team environment.
