The Desktop Support reports to the IT Services Delivery Supervisor and works as part of a team that provides Tier 1 support for all desktop and network infrastructure support problems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance with the organization's computer systems or PC's.
  • Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users.
  • Coordinates with other IS areas to resolve problems if necessary.
  • Works cooperatively with the Desktop Support staff in YLW.
  • May operate in a mainframe and/or microcomputer environment.
  • Be present and visible in the Help Desk and available to users requiring technical assistance.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for all desktop and network infrastructure support problems.
  • Learn and document fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.
  • Enforce all Computer and Network policies.
  • Become familiar with available help resources; stay updated on Network technology changes or problems.
  • Maintain discipline and decorum in the Help Desk and computer lab areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department.
  • Learn and document fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.
  • Projects as assigned within the desktop support and networking areas.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE or SKILLS

  • High school diploma
  • MCP or A+ certification and/or relevant experience required
  • Requires 3 years relevant computer experience
  • Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications
  • Desktop Hardware - Motherboards, Hard Drives (legacy and newest technologies), Ram, Video Cards, Nic’s, PSUs, etc.
  • Software Systems - Active Directory, Windows XP, 7, 10, Office 2016, O365, Access, Visio, Adobe Suite, and various in-house applications.
  • Hardware Systems – Network Hubs, Switches, Printers, Cabling, and Wireless Gear
  • Good phone skills, with a professional and customer service-oriented demeanor.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
  • A friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Able to work in an extremely fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Able to receive Security Clearances
