Precision Tool Grinder / Tooling Maintenance TechnicianPosition Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Precision Tool Grinder / Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, sharpening, repair, and management of production tooling to ensure optimal equipment performance, product quality, and production efficiency.
Candidates with experience in flooring, woodworking, furniture manufacturing, machining, or tooling industries are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided for mechanically inclined individuals who are eager to learn tool grinding and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, sharpening, and repair of production tooling.
- Sharpen and maintain PCD (diamond) tools, carbide tooling, saw blades, profile cutters, and router cutters.
- Inspect tooling for wear and damage, and perform repairs, replacements, and performance improvements as required.
- Operate and maintain tool grinding equipment and related machinery.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify tooling dimensions and tolerances.
- Support production teams by troubleshooting tooling-related issues to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain records of tooling usage, repairs, and sharpening activities.
- Manage tooling inventory and monitor tooling life cycles.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all company safety policies and operating procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in mechanical maintenance, machining, CNC operations, tool grinding, or a related field.
- Familiarity with hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous tool grinding experience.
- Experience with PCD (diamond) and carbide tooling.
- Experience in flooring, furniture, cabinetry, woodworking, or machining industries.
- Experience operating or maintaining CNC equipment.
- Previous experience with tooling manufacturers such as FS Tool, Leuco, Leitz, or AKE is considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
