Landscape Property Maintenance Lead Hand

Position Summary
The Landscape Property Maintenance Lead Hand is a working leadership role within the maintenance division. This position supports the Foreman in the daily execution of landscape maintenance services and helps ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standard. The Lead Hand is expected to lead by example, contribute directly to field production, support crew productivity, and reinforce expectations around quality, safety, professionalism, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform landscape maintenance work including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, pruning, hedge shaping, and garden bed maintenance
- Complete assigned tasks properly and efficiently with minimal supervision
- Support the Foreman in keeping the crew organized, productive, and focused throughout the day
- Help reinforce expectations around pace, quality, safety, and professionalism
- Assist in guiding newer crew members and step into short-term leadership when needed
- Operate equipment safely and help keep trucks, trailers, and tools clean, organized, and ready for use
- Report equipment issues, property concerns, jobsite hazards, and safety issues promptly
- Communicate clearly with the Foreman regarding progress, problems, and anything affecting quality or productivity
- Represent Creative Concepts Landscapes professionally through appearance, attitude, communication, and workmanship
- Perform seasonal services including mowing, trimming, garden maintenance, property enhancements, and required snow operations
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of landscape maintenance experience preferred
- Previous leadership or Lead Hand experience is an asset
- Strong understanding of maintenance quality standards
- Ability to operate commercial landscape equipment safely and efficiently
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
Role Expectations
The Lead Hand is expected to arrive on time and ready to work, maintain a strong pace throughout the day, complete work to company standard, care for equipment and vehicles, communicate clearly and respectfully, and support the Foreman in carrying out daily responsibilities. This role is also expected to set a positive example through attitude, effort, and professionalism.
Accountability
The Foreman remains the primary leader responsible for route execution, client issues, crew direction, and overall daily performance. The Lead Hand supports that leadership by helping the crew execute work at a high level. The Lead Hand is accountable for the quality of their work, the condition of the equipment they use, the way they communicate in the field, and the example they set for others. Schedule changes, client complaints, discipline, and major operational issues remain the responsibility of the Foreman and management.
