Mothercraft Ottawa is a trusted non-profit, multi-service family support agency that has been serving families and caregivers since 1944. We provide a wide range of programs from pregnancy through to school age, including:

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to maintain our nutritious food service program. You’ll be responsible to follow proper food handling and storage techniques in adherence to Health Inspector guidelines, and you must have the ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally.
Please note this is a new Casual position where shifts will be offered in the event of staff absences, vacations, etc., and regular hours are not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensures the quality of meals regarding taste, presentation and dietary requirements established by the dietician/nutritionist
· Ensures all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures
· Maintains clean and sanitary work environment including storage, tools, equipment, work area, etc.
· Provides assistance to educators for food and cooking experiences they may wish to plan for the program
· Ensures compliance with provincial regulations and agency policies, procedures and best practices
· Other reasonable duties as assigned
Qualifications
· High school graduation diploma; post-secondary education in culinary studies an asset
· Minimum of 1-year related experience
· Knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition, food handling and storage techniques
· High level of integrity and work ethic
· Ability to lift to 50 lbs
· Valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate
· Valid Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification, including infant and child
· Satisfactory police record vulnerable sector check
