We are a growing third-party logistics provider seeking a strong, hands-on Transportation Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of a dedicated private fleet.
This leadership role is responsible for operational performance, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement across a fleet of 40 trucks and a team of 75+ personnel.
Position Overview
The Transportation Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day fleet execution, dispatch performance, driver management, customer relationships, and cost control initiatives. This role requires a balance of operational discipline, leadership presence, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations of a 40-truck private fleet
- Lead 75 drivers and support staff
- Ensure optimal equipment utilization and route efficiency
- Monitor productivity and operational KPIs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Cost & Performance Management
- Manage operational budgets and cost control initiatives
- Focus on overtime reduction and labor efficiency
- Oversee maintenance coordination to minimize downtime
- Monitor fuel usage and equipment performance
Customer Relations
- Serve as primary operational contact for key clients
- Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
- Address service issues proactively and professionally
Employee Relations & Leadership
- Foster a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance
- Coach and develop dispatch and driver leadership
- Address performance management and employee relations matters
- Promote accountability and team engagement
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Equipment utilization rates
- Driver productivity metrics
- Overtime reduction targets
- Maintenance downtime metrics
- On-time delivery performance
- Cost per mile / cost per load
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, fleet management, or 3PL operations
- Proven leadership experience managing drivers and dispatch teams
- Experience with fleet management and safety platforms like Samsara, Geotab or Fleet Complete
- Strong understanding of fleet KPIs and cost control
- Experience managing private or dedicated fleet operations
- Excellent communication and leadership presence

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
