S2627-04 Occupational Therapy Assistant - Division Office
This is a full-time (1.0 fte) position serving the Lac La Biche area and commencing at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The assignment involves serving as part of the NLPS Inclusive Education Team. This would be under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist/Clinicians in collaboration with team members and contracted service providers. The primary focus is to support our schools and classrooms with creating an inclusive environment for all students. Working collaboratively with various stakeholders, including school teams and students to provide support for a range of needs that impact functioning in the classroom and to build upon the services of the inclusive education team. This job will involve implementing recommendations and programming within the school environment by working together with a learning team that may consist of a teacher, SLP, OT and may also include educational assistants, early learning facilitators, learning consultants, other multi-disciplinary team members. and clinicians.
Requirements:
- Completion of Occupational or Recreational Therapy diploma from a recognized institution is preferred. Equivalent training and qualifications in a related field may be considered, with combined direct experience supporting children and youth with diverse needs
- Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel throughout the Lac La Biche region

Computer literacy and understanding of various technology and software applications
Duties of the Therapy Assistant will include:
- Implementing programs/strategies with specific children and or groups of children
- Develop materials related to varied programs/strategies consistent with the recommendations and treatment plans provided
- Develop and maintain specific contact notes for the Occupational Therapist/Clinicians regarding child progress and response to current program/strategies
- Model/discuss strategies and supports as appropriate with the learning team
- Work collaboratively with other multi-disciplinary team members to implement strategies.
- Support with administrative duties to maintain file, create presentations, and provide related PD
