We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager who wants more than a traditional accounting role. This is an opportunity to work directly with the CEO and leadership team, influence key business decisions, improve financial visibility, and help build a scalable finance function that supports long-term growth.
The successful candidate will be a trusted leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing the accounting function while helping drive operational and financial excellence across the business.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Accounting Manager will lead a small accounting team and play a critical role in financial reporting, cash flow management, lender reporting, process improvement, and business decision support.
This position is ideal for an experienced Accounting Manager or a strong Senior Accountant ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Provide financial analysis and insight that supports business decision-making.
- Support business planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and make recommendations to leadership.
Cash Flow, Banking & Reporting
- Maintain and improve cash flow forecasting processes.
- Prepare lender reporting packages and borrowing base certificates.
- Support banking relationships and financing requirements.
- Monitor working capital performance and recommend improvements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a three-person accounting team.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Support cross-training and succession planning initiatives.
- Foster a positive and collaborative culture within the department.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and technology.
- Improve reporting processes and management dashboards.
- Support integration between financial and operational systems.
- Help modernize the finance function as the company continues to grow.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and regulatory filings.
- Strengthen internal controls and documentation.
- Coordinate year-end working papers and external accountant requirements.
What We're Looking For
- CPA designation preferred.
- 5-10+ years progressive accounting experience.
- Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting functions.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles.
- Experience with cash flow forecasting and financial analysis.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- A hands-on, practical approach to problem solving.
Would Be Considered an Asset
- Transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Experience with lending facilities, borrowing base reporting, or covenant compliance.
- Experience in entrepreneurial or growth-focused businesses.
- Experience implementing systems, automation, AI, or process improvement initiatives.

Pay: $85,000.00-$110,000.59 per year
