Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Developmental Service Worker to provide supportive care and guidance to children and youth in foster settings. We would like someone who takes our foster child to summer camp. This role involves working closely with foster families, children with diverse needs, and community resources to promote stability, well-being, and positive development. The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in assisted living, patient care, senior care, or working with individuals with disabilities. A strong commitment to caregiving, safety, and emotional support is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Required to work Mon- Fri 8:30am to 4:30pm for the summer
- Provide daily care and supervision to foster children, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being
- Assist with activities of daily living including meal preparation, medication administration, and light cleaning
- Take child to summer camp from 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Support children with special needs by implementing tailored care plans
- Monitor health conditions
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and behavioral progress
- Foster positive relationships with children, foster families, and community agencies
- Assist in planning and facilitating recreational activities that promote socialization and development
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and safety protocols
Requirements
- Prior experience or training in assisted living, nursing home care, hospice care, or home care is preferred
- Knowledge of caregiving skills including medication administration, meal preparation, and light cleaning
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or moving supplies
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Patience and understanding when working with children with disabilities or behavioral challenges
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Valid background check and ability to pass any required screenings or assessments
- Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of foster children and their families
