REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN)
Part-time Position
Rate $33.41/hr
Position Summary: Receiving direction from the Nursing Supervisor or designate RN/RPN in charge, the registered practical nurse is accountable and responsible for administering medication/treatments to the Sisters in the Care Centre according to the College of Nurses standards of Practice and in keeping with the policies provided by CareRx Pharmacy. Contributes to the various aspects of the Sisters’ care by assisting the Nurse in charge with daily assignments and treatment.
The RPN ensures that all health and safety standards are met and adheres to infection control practices and continually reinforces as necessary. Ensures all equipment is maintained in good, safe working order; works in a safe manner and promotes the safety of all co-workers, Sisters and visitors.
Qualifications:
· RPN and a in good standing the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
· 2-3 years related nursing experience preferred, gerontology experience within a health care setting an asset.
· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including the safe use of mechanical lifts and mobility equipment.
· Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA.
· Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to apply proper body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position.
· Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, supported by strong interpersonal skills.
· On occasion may accompany Sisters to outside appointments. Must be flexible and able to adjust to daily changes, based on operational requirements.
· A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate
The incumbent must be available to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and has a willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as required, based on operational needs.
