A full-time position is available at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada. The successful candidate will work to support the bioinformatics efforts and to help organize, plan, analyze, and interpret the results from a variety of exciting projects that are currently ongoing and planned. The successful candidate will work on existing and future RNA-seq, whole genome sequencing, chromatin conformation capture, CyTOF and single-cell RNA-sequencing data sets generated from a variety of cellular and murine model systems.

The successful candidate will have all the tools required to accomplish their goals, including dedicated access to the hospital’s high-performance computing infrastructure, which is one of the top systems in Canada devoted to health care research. In addition to this, you will work with collaborating bioinformaticians at the Princess Margaret Bioinformatics and Computing Core, and with researchers abroad (Catalan institute of Oncology, IDIBELL, Barcelona).

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, bioinformatics and biostatistics/statistics or a recognized equivalent, Master's degree is preferred
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree or 6 years of relevant experience with a Bacherlors degree
Hands-on experience in the use of Unix/Linux, R/Matlab, and statistical approaches (including Machine Learning techniques) to analyze and visualize genome-scale data sets.
Preferred but not required are expertise in a scripting language (Python, Perl), best practices for software development (version control, etc.) and the use of high-performance computing systems (eg. TORQUE) for analyzing large data sets.
Hands-on experience processing and analyzing next-generation sequencing data, ATAC-seq and RNA-Sequencing data analysis is preferred.
Experience with single cell sequencing data (Fluidigm C1, 10X, Dropseq etc.) and tools (Seurat, SCONE, SINGuLAR etc.) is a strong plus.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have some familiarity with the basic principles of immunology, DNA damage responses, genetics and cancer biology.
Candidates should have a strong sense of teamwork, be highly motivated, possess excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Preferred if the candidate has relevant publications in any of the fields of: immunology, cancer, genomics, statistics, or computational algorithms or tools
