Overview
The Street Outreach Worker plays a vital role in connecting communities with House of Mercy International Church. This position involves engaging with individuals and groups to educate them about available programs, facilitate access to the church, and promote community involvement of church activities and events. Maintain and develop new relationships with diverse community members of all background and cultures. Develop plans to enhance community awareness and engagement about House of Mercy International Church. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and people management skills, along with a passion for community service and outreach.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of HOM Church’s social media accounts, including the connecting with community organizations to promote HOM Church’s program.
- Answer telephone and in-person callers promptly via office and assigned cell phone.
- Provide information about House of Mercy International Church to members of the public
- Mentor new members and follow up on them about their spiritual growth in the community, receive feedback; answering questions.
- Implement changes to the HOM Church’s website.
- Performing administrative tasks, such as data entry, responding to emails, organizing events and programs.
- Assist the production of presentations, promotional materials.
- Planning and execution of special events of the church
- Participate in community outreach programs, meetings and event
- Attracting new members, fundraising, and building network of partners for the church
- Assist in grant applications and connecting with government organization and department for partnership with the church on programs that will benefit the community
- Participate in community events such as Lethbridge Chambers of Commerce and other organization to advocate for the church
- Answer telephone and in-person callers promptly via office and assigned cell phone.
Requirements
- Proven experience in administrative tasks related to outreach or community service work.
- Excellent public speaking abilities to engage diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with data collection methods for assessing program impact and community needs.
- Leadership qualities that inspire collaboration and motivation.
- A passion for educating the community about the church.
- Meet the Canada Summer Jobs requirements, such as between age 15-30, must be a Canadian citizen, permanent residence or a protected person
