Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of the float pool is currently seeking registered practical nurses. The purpose of the position is to provide psychiatric nursing care and physical assessment and related care required to patients within specialized Regional and Provincial Forensic inter-professional clinical programs
The Float Pool is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to gain diverse nursing experience across various departments within a hospital. This program is perfect for adaptable professionals with strong decision-making skills. Float Pool staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), and Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), provide nursing care across a range of patient programs, including both high-security forensic and regional care units.
Float Pool team members will be on-boarded, cross-trained and scheduled to work across all clinical inpatient areas on both regional and provincial programs. The populations we serve within our inpatient programs include Forensics, Dual Diagnosis, Geriatric Psychiatry, Acute Assessment, Transition and Recovery and Concurrent Disorders Programs. Shifts will be assigned to meet the staffing needs of the organization and are subject to change as determined by the Employer. This flexibility allows staff to collaborate with multiple nursing teams and enhance their skills in a variety of settings, supporting the hospital's operations and patient care requirements.
