The Pipe Supports Engineer will work within the Piping Analysis team. The Piping Analysis team performs analysis of nuclear safety related piping and piping supports in order to show code and regulatory compliance. The group supports new plant design work, currently focusing on the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor design and global implementation. The team interfaces with Systems Design, Civil Structural Design, Reactor Design, and Integrated Plants Design teams.
Essential Responsibilities
The Pipe Support Engineer is required to understand, define and analyze pipe supports to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
In addition, you will be requested to:
- Utilize knowledge and experience to solve and deliver outcomes to customers
- Work cooperatively throughout the organization to solve technical issues
- Communicate potential solutions and work status effectively
- Provide leadership and technical direction to personnel and projects
- Interface between sub-contractors and in-house engineering teams
- Perform oversight activities related to pipe support design, analysis, and documentation
- Prepare technical documents such as design basis documents and ASME design reports
- Support procurement and subcontract activities for new plant projects
- Represent the organization at industry forums such as ASME meetings and conferences
- Maintain and develop technical design procedures for piping and pipe support analysis
- Procure, maintain, and facilitate use of analysis software
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering (other engineering disciplines may be acceptable based on experience)
- Minimum 4 years of pipe supports design and analysis experience
Additional Desired Characteristics
- Nuclear industry experience
- Working knowledge of ASME Section III (Subsection NF) and ASME B31.1
- Experience with PIPESTRESS, AUTOPIPE, CAESAR
- Pipe whip restraint design/analysis
- Experience with GT STRUDL, STADD, ANSYS, LICAD
- Experience developing scopes of work and overseeing subcontracted pipe support design & analysis: 3D modeling and BIM tool experience
- PE or EIT in training certificate
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and data skills, including ability to create automation scripts (VBA, Python, etc.)
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Mentoring of junior engineers
- Self-starter with initiative
Pay: $80.00-$115.00 per hour
