Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is currently accepting resumes for NEW!! positions – 3 temporary Journeyman Carpenter Foremen in safety-sensitive positions and environments within the Alberta Oil Sands in Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo Region.

The Job
Rotation: 21 shifts on, 9 off
Hours per Day: 11
Accommodations: Camp setting
Flights: Provided by Heavy Metal, to and from the region
Transportation: Provided by Heavy Metal, to and from site
Hourly Rate: $40 - $47 per hour, dependent on level of trade, skills, and abilities
In addition to the base hourly rate, full-time, Foremen can look forward to the following Compensation Package Extras.
+ Vacation/Holiday Pay paid each pay period
The temporary nature of this position is based on the timeline of approved contract(s).

An excellent Foreman Carpenter will be:
- An ambassador for safety ensuring a healthy safety attitude, compliance with all OH&S, company, client and industry policies and guidelines, continual participation in the safety program and ensuring the worksites are clean and safe
- An effective communicator, ensuring all aspects of the work are communicated to the necessary parties, including challenges and the ability to meet the projected timelines
- Flexible in their approach to addressing daily tasks as the priorities will continually change
- Reliable
- Punctual
- Highly motivated
To meet the demands of this position effectively, Foremen must be able to:
- Adhere to and comply with all safety and environmental policies and initiatives
- Supervise the work of other carpenters
- Represent Heavy Metal positively and professionally in all interactions with clients and customers, including written and verbal communication
- Coordinate carpentry projects, gather construction materials and procure equipment for the projects
- Complete hazard assessments to a high standard acceptable by OH&S
- Read blueprints
- Demonstrate skills and proficiency in wood framing, interior/exterior woodwork, and form work for concrete
- Efficiently work with rebar (layout, tying)
- Operate equipment
- Install hardware
- Prepare and finish concrete work
- Keep work and worksite organized and clean
- Be solution-focused to address any deficiencies and concerns on site
What we need from you?
- Someone who takes pride in their work
- 3 - 5 Years of supervisory experience, in the construction industry
- Red Seal/Journeyman Carpenter
- Construction background, with knowledge and proficiency in practical application of carpentry principles, techniques, and procedures
- Mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with basic tools
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, building specifications and other construction documentation
- Understanding of building electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to complete accurate job analysis to determine labour and material costs
- Must have an excellent safety attitude, promoting and contributing to a strong safety culture and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Collaborative communication style with strong verbal, written and comprehension skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:
- Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's License (Advanced) and clean Driver’s Abstract
- Provide a criminal record check
- Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
- Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
- Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you)
- Comply with federal, provincial and Heavy Metal/client worksite regulations
