Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, and supporting various accounting functions using leading accounting software. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization through precise data entry, account reconciliation, and financial analysis. The position requires proficiency in multiple accounting platforms and a strong foundation in financial principles. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining compliance and supporting budgeting and reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Process carrier and vendor invoices on a timely basis
- Manage multi-account AP processing, ensuring proper allocation and timely payments.
- Verify accuracy and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Prepare payments and reconcile AP Ledgers
- Issue Customer invoices based on freight/transportation services rendered.
- Apply payments to customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
- Maintain accurate AR aging reports and assist in collections.
- Handle all drivers' pay for drivers across Canada and the US
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports as needed
- Reconcile bank statements and assist with month-end and year-end close.
- Liaise with other internal departments and external vendors regarding financial matters.
- Perform various administrative tasks and assist with ad-hoc projects
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum2–4 years of experience in Accounts Payable, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Strong understanding of AP processes, invoice lifecycle, and payment cycles.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data validation, and basic data analysis.
- Planning and organizing including scheduling and prioritizing work tasks to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent Communication skills- both verbal and written.
- Excellent problem-solving skills- Able to identify problems and implement workable solutions.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks) is a plus.
- Knowledge of trucking industry an asset
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada.
Pay: $43,793.24-$87,157.55 per year
