The Student Enrolment Centre (SEC) serves as a single location for students to access academic and prospective advising, award, and funding information. This position is a specialist on funding options and an expert on student awards.
This position’s primary role is to serve as the expert regarding student awards. The SEC Specialist – Awards is responsible for planning, implementing and providing specialized awards services to learners, Red Deer Polytechnic staff and to the community. Responsibilities include policy interpretation, issue identification with proactive risk management, managing and training staff on awards programming, and the provision of accurate information to the Associate Registrar – Engagement Services.
Using a learner-centered approach, the SEC Specialist – Awards will provide guidance to current and prospective students to maximize access to awards and ensure they have the appropriate financial supports to successfully achieve their educational goals. This role requires the ability to solve complex problems, make decisions and find solutions while exercising independent judgment and maintaining confidentiality. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, creativity, initiative, and collaboration.
