Are you our next Automation Electrical Engineer?
We are currently seeking an Automation Electrical Engineer (I, II, III, Senior) at our Esterhazy, SK K3 location. The successful candidate will be responsible for safe and effective execution of assigned automation projects, on time and on budget. The scope of the position includes all aspects from design, construction, commissioning, and final turnover and training of new automation projects along with technical support, maintenance and training of existing automation equipment and technologies. The successful candidate will work with automation team members on designing and developing new technologies and take a lead role in the construction and implementation of major projects. This position will involve direct interaction with site maintenance, capital, and operating personnel, providing technical expertise of an electrical engineering nature to ensure that the automation systems developed are effective and reliable.
What will you be working on?

Ensuring safety is a top priority in both design and execution of projects. Executing work in compliance with Mosaic processes, procedures, standards, and Government Regulations and assist in developing those processes, procedures, and standards that do not currently exist.

Working closely with site personnel to facilitate the safe testing and completion of projects. Developing procedures for safely testing new technologies in an operational mining environment.

Developing, designing, and implementing equipment to automate various aspects of potash mining. Acting as a technical liaison between Mosaic, consultants and vendors as required.

Investigating and promoting ideas for new technological developments. Evaluating and Incorporating the latest technologies into designs for automating the various elements of potash mining.

Developing training material for operations and maintenance personnel.

Troubleshooting issues that arise on mine automation projects related to power, control, instrumentation, and communications.

Improving machines and equipment controls through PLC programming and HMI programming.

Follow the Capital Project Management process on assigned capital projects to ensure proper practices are applied to allocating and spending capital on assigned automation projects. Provide technical insight from area of expertise in a team setting to help develop and progress the mine automation project portfolio.
What is required for this role?

Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Majoring in Electrical, Electronic Systems or other applicable fields related to Machine and Process Automation.

Registered with APEGS, actively working towards P. Eng. status.

Previous engineering experience preferred.

Project Management experience would be an asset. Direct experience in an underground potash mining environment would be preferred.

Fundamental knowledge of control logic and continuous process controls required.

Experience with Rockwell PLC and HMI Systems.

Communication network experience.

Understanding of controls for hydraulic systems and robotics and instrumentation experience would be an asset.

Proficiency in standard office-related software (MS Office, Windows OS) is required.

Skilled in, or ability to learn, Rockwell Automation software and other configuration software used in the Automation industry is an asset.
