Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be leading a team of drill & blast engineers as well as technicians in delivering pattern design, blast timing, drill planning, QAQC, and blast optimsation. You will work cross-departmentally with operations, maintenance, process plant and other functions to ensure the plan is communicated and executed effectively. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Work in collaboration with all site functions to determine plan, input parameters and assumptions, ensuring all design work (pit slopes, dumps, stockpiles, roads, drill and blast) comply to AE standards and legislative requirements;
Lead void management for historic underground workings, including planning and executing cavity monitoring surveys, drilling probe holes, and interpreting legacy underground designs to support safe and efficient pit operations;
Contribute to the development of mine engineering procedures related to safety, costs, production, maintenance and budgeting.
Minimum 8 years of mine engineering experience, with at least 5 years in open-pit drill & blast roles at large-scale hard rock operations (preferably at operations exceeding 150,000 tonnes per day of total material movement);
Produce Drill & Blast designs for mine operations including hole layout, explosive loading instructions, stemming/decking requirements, and blast timing;
Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, MineSight, Deswik, Alastri) and in interpreting and using geological, survey, and geotechnical data for practical design and scheduling.
Compensation Statement
In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
