We are seeking a Quality Control Coordinator to join our growing team on a permanent, full-time basis at our facility in Thorndale, Ontario. What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Quality Control Coordinator to ensure that quality standards and procedures meet legislation and customer specifications. This individual is responsible for managing the organization’s quality assurance policies and controlling new product development processes. The QC Coordinator will also establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls in order to meet business requirements, as well as identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations.
Ensure all products meet or exceed company and customer quality standards.
Review specifications and engineered shop drawings for projects to ensure that specific requirements are called out on the plans.
Inspect the quality of each bridge in production against company quality standards and specific project requirements (welds, dimensions, holes, placement of weeps, blast finish, coatings, etc.).
Perform internal QA audits in compliance with corporate policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable standards and legislation
Collaborate with client-facing QA representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction with the company's products and services.
Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
Ensure that CWB WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) are being followed
Ensure proper calibrations of equipment, maintain calibrations schedules and records.
Prepare in-process QC documentation for each project and ensure that all checks are completed and signed-off by production staff.
Perform pre-shipment quality checks with the Company’s approved checklist and documentation.
Develop and propose improvements to the Company’s Quality Management Program
Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable.
Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) into processes.
Act as liaison with customer auditors and assume responsibility for ensuring corrective actions with customer specifications.
Persuade staff to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.
Create and maintain QA control documentation.
Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities.
Minimum 3+ years of direct work experience with QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
Ability to pass CWB and maintain CWB Welding Inspector Level 2
Direct knowledge of QA methodologies – ISO 9001:2015
Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.
Custom fabrication and welding experience an asset.
Familiarity with Galvanizing, and Painted Structures.
Experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.
Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
