Roofing Service Technician – Residential & Commercial
We are looking for an experienced Roofing Service Technician to join our service department. This is not a full roofing crew or production roofing position. The primary focus of this role is troubleshooting, leak investigation, repairs, and smaller roofing projects across residential and commercial properties.
The right candidate should be an experienced roofer who is comfortable working independently, diagnosing roofing problems, determining the proper repair, and completing quality work without needing constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Respond to residential and commercial leak, service, and repair calls
- Inspect roofing systems, locate the source of leaks, and determine the appropriate repair
- Complete repairs on:
- Flat and low-slope roofing systems
- Asphalt shingle roofing
- Metal roofing
- Sloped roofing systems
- Flashings, penetrations, curbs, vents, and other common problem areas
- Determine what materials are required for each repair
- Purchase required materials using a company card
- Complete approved repairs and document the work performed
- Take clear before, during, and after photos of service work
- Complete smaller roofing renovations and repair projects
- Occasionally work with a small crew on larger repairs or service projects
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work area
- Communicate clearly with the office, customers, and other team members
Required Experience
Applicants must have solid hands-on roofing experience and be capable of working on both commercial flat roofing and residential asphalt roofing.
You should have experience with flat roofing membrane installation, repair, detailing, and troubleshooting, including common systems and techniques such as:
- SBS modified bitumen / torch-on roofing
- Self-adhered membrane systems
- EPDM
- TPO
- PVC
- Cold-applied and adhered membrane systems
- Heat-welded membrane seams and detailing
- Flashings, drains, scuppers, penetrations, curbs, parapets, and tie-ins
- Leak detection and repair of existing membrane systems
Experience with asphalt shingles and metal roofing is also required. You must be able to diagnose problems rather than simply replace what is visibly damaged.

This position requires someone who is a troubleshooter and problem solver. Many service calls will require figuring out where water is actually entering, why the roofing system failed, and what repair will provide a proper long-term solution.

Vehicle & Equipment Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A reliable truck suitable for roofing service work
- A ladder
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability to travel between service calls and pick up materials as required
Position
This is an hourly service department position with a wide variety of work. Jobs can range from individual leak investigations and repairs to larger repair projects and small roofing/structural renovation work.
The position offers a high level of independence and variety compared with full-time production roofing. You will regularly work on different roofing systems, buildings, and repair situations.
For larger repairs, you may be paired with additional workers or a small crew as required.

There is an opportunity for promotion to Site Supervisor after approximately one year, based on performance, reliability, roofing knowledge, leadership ability, and overall fit with the company.
We are looking for someone who wants a long-term position and is interested in taking on greater responsibility as they become familiar with our company and standards.
Pay: $26.00-$36.00 per hour
