Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

Specialized course work in the following areas of ELL teaching methodology, cross-cultural sensitization, multicultural studies, and applied linguistics.

Experience teaching landed immigrant and international students.
-
Knowledge of ELL Ministry of Education eligibility criteria for 1701 reporting.

Experience in school-based assessment practices and conducting level B assessments.
-
Experience in developing Annual Individual Plans (AIPs).
-
Knowledge of current best practices in education.
-
ELL educator consulting with classroom teacher, classroom assistant and/or teaching assistant.
-
ELL educator co-planning with classroom teacher.
-
ELL educator and classroom teacher co-teaching or team teaching within the regular classroom.
-
ELL educator delivering small-group instruction.
-
Direct skill-building instruction/support to an individual student.
-
Classroom teacher using differentiation (e.g. adaptations, supplementary curriculum materials, accommodations).

Collaborative planning with individual student regarding language goals and strategies.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.

Demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL.

Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of child physical and social/emotional development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with elementary-aged children

Demonstrated ability to select, adapt and differentiate classroom management and instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of all students

Demonstrated experience and ability to plan for, motivate and successfully teach students with diverse learning abilities at the Kindergarten to Grade 5 levels.

Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to plan program support for multiple students to determine instructional grouping and lessons

Demonstrated knowledge of a comprehensive literacy and numeracy programs and instruction

Ability and commitment to utilize a variety of district and classroom/school-based assessments for allowing students to show what they know and using evidence to plan for instruction and intervention

Demonstrated ability and experience in tracking and monitoring student ability and achievement
- Willingness to collaborate with Student Services staff and classroom colleagues to align instructional, assessment, and reporting practices.
- Evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member

Excellent communication skills with parents, students, and other staff
